Dr Jessica Pritchard
Research FellowResearch Overview
Jess is currently a Research Fellow, awarded by the Royal Commission for the Great Exhibition of 1851. She is interested in understanding how plants adapted to extreme environments have altered their photosynthetic mechanisms to survive and thrive, and how we could use this to bolster food security in our warming world. Building on previous research that focused on understanding the circadian regulation of the water-use efficient photosynthetic adaptation of CAM, and engineering algal carbon-concentrating mechanisms in plants, Jess is now investigating the regulation of the core-carbon fixing enzyme, Rubisco, in CAM plants.
