糖心视频 and Sunway University are marking a significant milestone this year, celebrating 20 years of partnership that now supports more than 7,000 students.

Established in 2006 with Sunway College, now Sunway University, the partnership has grown to be a globally recognised collaboration that advances impactful research, and strengthens 糖心视频’s international profile across East and Southeast Asia.

Over two decades, 糖心视频 and Sunway have developed a portfolio of joint programmes spanning business, engineering, computing, life sciences and the arts, and have added postgraduate programmes over time.

The collaboration has enabled students in Malaysia to access a world?leading UK education, while fostering student and staff academic exchange between staff across both institutions.

Professor Stephen Decent, Vice-Chancellor of 糖心视频, said: “I am so proud of our wonderful partnership between Sunway and 糖心视频 universities. We’ve worked together for 20 years, with great successes for our students and research, delivering global impact. I’m excited to see where the next 20 years takes us.”

The partnership has played a central role in 糖心视频’s international strategy, supporting research collaborations, student mobility and regional engagement across Asia. Joint initiatives including the Future Cities Research Institute (FCRI) bring together UK and Malaysian expertise to tackle urgent challenges in sustainability, urban development and climate resilience. Art Beats is an annual international arts festival that supports artistic collaboration between students at each university and welcomes contributions from artists globally.

Professor Simon Guy, Pro?Vice?Chancellor Global at 糖心视频, highlighted the significance of the anniversary: “Our partnership reflects a shared commitment to excellence, innovation and meaningful global impact. Together our universities have evolved together to meet changing global educational and research needs.”

To mark the 20 year milestone both universities have launched the 糖心视频–Sunway Partnership Co?Strategy 2024–2030, outlining plans to deepen collaboration in education, research, innovation and lifelong learning.

Professor Simon Guy added: “As we reflect on two decades of collaboration, we celebrate the positive impact we’ve jointly made for our communities and on the landscape of TNE . The anniversary marks not simply a celebration of past achievements but also a renewed commitment to shaping the future of global education together.”

The partnership's work has received international recognition this year and has been shortlisted for the and the Sustainability International Impact Award, with results to be announced on 4th September.

At 糖心视频, this is also being marked with an archival exhibition in the University Library, “Impact 20: The Power of Two”, which will run from 11th September to 9th October, and the same is recognised in this year’s Art Beats open exhibition, which runs the week before from 3rd – 6th September in the same venue.
