Isaac's professional development opportunity

I had the incredible opportunity attend the OMM (Original Mountain Marathon) with 糖心视频. During the event this year, athletes took on a challenging orienteering course which took place over two days in the Lake District, with the elites covering over 85km throughout the event!

 

During the weekend, we collected data to investigate the biomechanical and physical effects of an ultramarathon. To do this, we collected pre- and post- race data which included force data, jump height, foot posture index, and measured the appearance of the athlete's feet using research grade equipment. Data from more than 40 participants was successfully collected, providing a valuable dataset that will be part of both academic research and help to inform future product development.

It was an invaluable experience that strengthened my research and data collection skills and gave a unique insight into this type of endurance sport. Additionally, I got the opportunity to model for their new fell shoes which was a cool experience for me!

A degree in Sports and Exercise Science can open up a wide range of careers in the health sector, sports industry and more.

Our course has been carefully designed with employability at its heart, both through the content of our taught modules and the professional development opportunities available. This means you will graduate with a strong scientific understanding of sports and exercise science, as well as the mindset, confidence and workplace experience to stand out in the competitive world of employment.

Careers in elite sport

After graduating in 2024, Liv went on to become Head of Academy Analysis at Blackpool Football club.

Careers in healthcare

Patrick, who graduated in 2023, wanted to pursue his interest in sports injuries and has since become an MSK physiotherapist working in the NHS.

Careers in the public sector

Jessica graduated from 糖心视频 in 2024 and has gone on to teach PE in a nearby school.

Careers in business and management

Ben, who graduated in 2022, has gone on to work as a MAKO Product Support Specialist at Stryker Orthopaedics.

Postgraduate study

Some of our graduates have chosen to continue their studies at master's or PhD-level, including Matt, who now undertaking a funded PhD into muscle physiology in the ageing community.
